The heavy snowfall makes our daily progress challenging. Fortunately, the yaks’ steady footsteps have packed down the powder, creating a narrow corridor to walk through.
On the opposite slope stands Tengboche Monastery, nestled between the high snow-covered mountains and the Imja Khola River. Pristine and remote, this site welcomes pilgrims every November for the three-day Buddhist festival known as “Mani Rimdu.”
