Photo 13 - Interior decoration of the Khumjung Monastery

The monastery is small, and the main hall has no windows. Light comes only from the large wooden door and Chinese neon lights.
One can imagine the scenes of meditation and prayer: seated on the wooden benches, the monks pray and recite mantras while rhythmically playing their instruments. The scent of incense, the candles and the golden statues define and formalize an serious, serene, and sacred atmosphere.
During our visit, a monk uncovered a large chest beneath a protective cloth. According to him, the bones and skull inside belonged to the Abominable Snowman, the Yeti, known in Nepali as "Rukh Bhalu."
