France - Cycling trip in Corsica - GT20 Bastia > Bonifacio + Bonifacio > Ajaccio - 2024
10-day cycling trip (with 4 panniers). Magnificent. Heat, Sirocco, strong winds, storms, long passes and steep climbs, tough going but great fun. Breathtaking scenery. My legs gave out and sometimes my mind did too, but it was hugely satisfying once I'd completed the course.
The entire route was completed in 8 stages from Bastia to Bonifacio (600km, 10 000 m positive elevation gain). Then in 2 stages from Bonifacio to Ajaccio (to catch the ferry). For a total journey of approximately 800 km.
I suggest you do the GT20 Bastia > Bonifacio in 12 stages as mentioned on the official website of the Corsica Tourist Office. The Bonifacio > Propriano route was on the national road (but it is often possible to ride on the side of the road) then along the coast from Propriano > Ajaccio (also steep gradients). A must-do!
